Gas Boiler Cover

Terms and Conditions

  1. Introduction
These terms apply to the White Rose Boiler Care Plan (version 2.0, effective [date]). "We", "us" and "our" means White Rose Property Maintenance & Compliance Ltd, 548 Broad Lane, Leeds LS28 6PA, company no. 17295813. "You" means the person named on the plan. Please read these terms carefully; you'll be asked to confirm you agree to them before you sign up and pay. Landlords should see our separate landlord plan terms.
  2. What the plan is
The Boiler Care Plan is a maintenance and service agreement. We carry out servicing and repairs ourselves using our own Gas Safe registered engineers. It is not an insurance policy and we do not pay out money in place of carrying out work.
  3. What's included (£19.99 a month)
    • Repairs to your gas boiler and its controls (programmer, room thermostat, timer and the wiring between them) when they break down
    • Parts and labour up to £500 including VAT per claim. One claim means all visits and repairs for the same fault within 30 days
    • Unlimited call-outs, with no excess
    • Priority response if you have no heating or no hot water: we aim to attend within 24 hours. This is a target, not a guarantee, and may be affected by severe weather, parts availability and access
    • An annual boiler service, starting 6 months after your activation date and then every 12 months
  4. Initial health check and intense service (£89, required)
Every plan starts with an initial health check: a full boiler strip-down and clean, inspection of all components, efficiency and safety checks, a system cleanse if needed, and a record of what we find with dated photos. The fee is paid when you sign up and is non-refundable once the visit has been carried out. If we find a fault, we'll give you a fixed quote to repair it, and your cover will not start until it has been put right. If your boiler cannot be made eligible, we'll cancel your plan and refund any monthly payments taken.
  5. Activation and the first 30 days
Your activation date is the date we confirm in writing that your boiler has passed the initial health check. Breakdown cover starts on your activation date. No claims can be made for breakdowns reported in the first 30 days after the activation date; we'll still attend and quote at plan member rates. This does not apply to faults caused by our own work.
  6. Eligibility
    • You must own the property, or have the owner's written permission
    • Your boiler must be a domestic natural gas boiler under 10 years old (from the date of manufacture), 70kW or less, installed to the manufacturer's instructions and current regulations
    • The boiler must be in good working order, accessible and safe to work on at the initial health check
    • The property must be in Leeds or the surrounding areas we cover
  7. Repairs
We decide whether to repair or replace parts and may use non-original parts of equivalent quality. Repairs depend on parts being available. If a repair would cost more than the claim limit, we'll tell you and you can pay the difference or decline the repair. If your boiler is beyond economical repair or parts are obsolete, we'll tell you in writing and offer a replacement at plan member rates. We won't replace a whole boiler under the plan. Repairs we carry out are guaranteed for 12 months.
  8. What's not included
    • Any fault or condition present or identified at the initial health check, or which we reasonably believe existed before your activation date
    • System design defects or poor installation, and any damage they cause
    • Faults caused by DIY or third-party work or alterations to your heating system
    • Accidental, malicious or deliberate damage, misuse or neglect
    • Damage from fire, lightning, explosion, flood, storm or frost, including frozen condensate pipes and frozen or burst pipes
    • Smart controls such as Nest, Hive and smart radiator valves
    • Plinth heaters, stopcocks, shower pumps, showers, fuse boards, drains and waste pipework
    • Pipework, wiring or flues buried in walls, floors or ceilings, underfloor heating, and making good after access
    • Faults caused by failure of the gas, electricity or water supply
    • Boilers over 10 years old
    • Increased bills, loss of water, loss of earnings and any other indirect or consequential loss
    • Pools, spas and their pipework
    • Routine adjustments such as topping up pressure, resetting the boiler, changing timer or thermostat settings, bleeding radiators and replacing batteries
    • Unvented cylinders, thermal stores, immersion heaters, solar thermal, heat pumps and fan convectors
    • Flues and terminals over 1 metre
    • Heat exchanger repairs on condensing boilers
    • Damage caused by sludge, limescale, debris or aggressive water, unless we recommended a system clean, filter or treatment and it was carried out; powerflushing and system cleans
    • Radiators and radiator valves
  9. Payments
The plan costs £19.99 a month including VAT, paid by card or Direct Debit. Your first payment is taken when you sign up, together with the £89 initial health check fee, and then monthly on the same date. If a payment fails, we'll tell you and try again; if it is still unpaid after 14 days we may suspend your cover until it's paid, and after 30 days we may cancel your plan. We won't increase your price in your first 12 months. After that we'll give you at least 30 days' written notice of any change, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
  10. Access
You must give us safe access at agreed times. If we can't get in for a booked visit, we'll rebook; after two failed visits a £45 missed-appointment charge may apply to each further failed visit. We may refuse or stop work if conditions are unsafe or anyone at the property is abusive.
  11. Your responsibilities
Give us accurate information, report faults promptly, take reasonable steps to prevent further damage, and don't let anyone else repair or alter your boiler without telling us first, except in an emergency. If you smell gas, call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 first.
  12. Fraud and fair use
We may refuse a claim and cancel your plan if a claim is fraudulent or exaggerated, relates to a fault you knew about before signing up, or if information you gave us was knowingly false. If we do, we may charge for work already carried out at our standard rates.
  13. Cancellation
You can cancel within 14 days of signing up for a full refund, as long as no visit or call-out has taken place; if you asked us to carry out the initial health check within the 14 days, the £89 fee is not refundable. After 14 days you can cancel at any time by emailing repairs@wrpmltd.co.uk, and no further payments will be taken. Payments for previous months are not refunded. We may cancel your plan with 30 days' written notice and refund any payments for periods after cancellation.
  14. Our liability
All gas work is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers. We hold £5 million public liability insurance. We're not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability in any 12-month period is limited to the plan payments you made in that period or £5,000, whichever is greater. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or anything else that cannot be limited by law.
  15. Complaints
Contact us at repairs@wrpmltd.co.uk or 0113 532 7670. We'll acknowledge your complaint within 2 working days and aim to resolve it within 14 days.
  16. Your information
We use your details to provide your plan, as described in our privacy policy.
  17. Changes and general
We may update these terms with at least 30 days' notice; if a change is to your disadvantage you may cancel without charge before it takes effect. If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest remains in force. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
