What does a boiler service include?

A proper service is more than a quick look. Our engineers work through the manufacturer’s checklist for your boiler, which typically includes:

• A visual check of the boiler, flue and pipework
• Checking the gas pressure and burner, and testing combustion with a flue gas analyser
• Cleaning components where the manufacturer requires it
• Checking seals, the condensate pipe and safety devices
• Testing the system pressure and expansion vessel
• A written record of the service for your warranty

How often should a boiler be serviced?

Every 12 months. An annual service keeps your boiler running safely and efficiently, catches small faults before they turn into breakdowns, and is usually a condition of the manufacturer’s warranty. If your boiler is under warranty and misses a service, a later claim can be refused.

What affects the price?

Our £78 price covers a standard gas boiler service. The price can be different for some jobs, for example if you need parts replaced or extra work such as a system clean. We will always tell you before doing anything that costs more.

If you’re a landlord, you can have the boiler serviced at the same visit as your landlord gas safety certificate, which saves you arranging two appointments.

Is a boiler service the same as a gas safety check?

No. A gas safety check (CP12) checks that all the gas appliances and flues in a property are safe. It’s a legal requirement for landlords. A service goes further on the boiler itself, cleaning and adjusting it so it keeps working well. Many homeowners and landlords have both done together.

When is the best time to book?

Any time of year, but late summer and early autumn are ideal. Any problems are found before you need the heating every day, and appointments are easier to get than in the middle of a cold snap.
